Keeping Secrets ‘The Last Transmission’ Review

Rating: 9/10

By: Kelsey Amor

For those who are very much into ‘post hardcore’ or ‘screamo’ genres, Keeping Secrets is a band that will definitely blow your ears out. Not only are they such a unique group of musicians, their new album that is soon to be released is just amazing to listen to. With amazing guitar riffs and great rhythmic double pedal of the drums, the songs ties well with the vocals each and every track off this record. Their new album is titled The Last Transmission, which is set to be released on November 26, 2011.

I enjoyed the intro in the beginning of the first song, ‘Mayday! Mayday!’  The song begins with the sounds of someone yelling as if they are in a middle of a battlefield followed by a round of gunshots, which if you are a big fan of a videogames like I am, you know that’s quiet awesome to hear being incorporated in a song. The intro definitely gets you started and the drums start off as if mimicking the gunshots in the intro.

The best thing about this album is that even though you can call them ‘hardcore’ or ‘screamo’, they are definitely not like your generic ‘hardcore screamo bands’ that all sound the same. Their songs are even between the screams, riffs, and breakdowns. Which makes it nice because I don’t know about you but you get tired of hearing break down after break down.

With all that said, Keep Secrets’ The Last Transmission is definitely a favorite pick of mine. You definitely will hear the talents of each of these musicians and the hard work they put into making this album. If you are a big fan of A Day To Remember, August Burns Red, and It Dies Today, you will absolutely like this album.
